The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe

2001

Words: Irita Kutchmy

Music: Irita Kutchmy

The story follows the adventures of four young evacuees – Peter, Susan, Lucy and Edmund – as they travel into the magical land of Narnia. When Lucy opens the wardrobe in the spare room she finds herself by a lamppost in a snow covered wood. Befriended by a faun (Mr. Tumnus), she learns that in Narnia it is always winter, but never Christmas, thanks to a spell cast by the wicked White Witch. When Edmund follows Lucy through the wardrobe he meets the Witch who promises to make him King if he leads his brother and sisters to her castle.

Tension mounts when Father Christmas arrives and declares that Aslan the Lion is returning to Narnia to defeat the Witch and, in so doing, forfeits his life to her by the law of the Deep Magic. Aslan decides to take his place and is killed by the Witch, only to be saved by the Deeper Magic. A battle ensues and the White Witch is destroyed. The children are crowned Kings and Queens of Narnia and the peace is restored.

Years later the children rediscover the lamp-post and return to Narnia, only to discover that time has stood still while they have been away.
